Abstract
A preliminary interlaboratory study (ILS) was conducted in Aug-Sep of 2016, in order to evaluate the capacity of widely used optical-based commercial measurement platforms to yield a common value for zeta potential (ZP) using a single well-characterized test material and a simple protocol. This report summarizes the results of that study. The ILS was initiated as part of an on-going joint effort between the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD and the EC Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Geel, Belgium, to develop a certified reference material (CRM) for the purposes of quality control and instrument/user proficiency testing. The ILS was intended to determine if there may be significant variability between different light scattering based measurement platforms, and to capture any issues that might impact the certification of the new CRM.Citation
